Health Tips for the Avid Gamer

Just because gaming has become socially acceptable, it doesn’t mean you can put your health to the wayside. In fact, most professional eSports athletes have strict exercise regimes to keep their bodies and minds in top performance condition. Here are some tips to stay a little bit healthier as you game the night away. 

The 90-degree rule

Position your chair in such a way that your feet can stay flat on the floor, you can sit up straight in your chair and your elbows are at a 90-degree angle.  

Drink Plenty of Fluid 

I know that the official gamer fuel is Mountain Dew, but highly consider drinking water. Especially after 9 o’clock. I know what you’re thinking, I need the caffeine to stay awake and game all night. That may be true, but if you replace your Dew with water, you will be getting up more frequently to use the restroom, thus keeping your awake just as efficiently. 

Snacks

I also know that the official snack of gamers is Doritos, however, consider replacing your chips with nuts, (my personal favorite are almonds), vegetables or fruit.  What I like most about almonds are that they are full of protein and healthy fats, which means you can snack on almonds and fill full sooner.  

Sedentary Stretches and Exercises 

If you’re like me, you’re #PCMasterRace4Lyfe and with that being the case a lot of stress and pressure are put onto your wrist while you game, and no matter what kind of gamer you are, your eyes and head often get strained after gaming for long periods of time. Try googling and adding some of these stretches and exercises while you are waiting in queue or for a game to load.

Neck Rolls 

Sun Salutations
